Markus Eder Freeride World Tour Champion

It was a day to remember, Markus Eder being crowned the 2019 Freeride World Tour Champion at the Xtreme Verbier. The world title was not guaranteed for Markus going into the Finals, with Kristoffer Turndell within reach of the title. However as it the day unfolded it was Markus Eder who took out the win. The uncertainly and the pressure going into the day made it a very emotional day for Markus as he had been striving towards taking the title throughout the whole season.

To ease some of the pressure going into his run, Markus had a phone call from fellow team mate Fabio Studer who told him he was going to be Crowned World Champion before he dropped in, as Kristoffer Turndell had already had his run and was in 2nd place.

Markus started from Start 3 of the face and linked several cliffs, throwing in a 360 and a creative Markus style cross-hill backflip, he had a run that emanated his style of skiing combining a fun mix of freestyle and big mountain skiing.  This placed him 6th overall on the day.

Quote from Markus Eder:
’I’ m so incredibly happy about yesterday and the whole journey we where on this season with the Freeride World Tour. It was a constant build up and rollercoaster of emotions that seemed to explode the weeks before the Xtreme Verbier. I‘m so thankful for having been part of it with an incredible group of riders showing great vibes and next level riding on every stop and of course the organisation crew putting huge effort into it behind the scenes to make it all possible -  Thank you guys and girls!
Being world champion is such an honour, somehow unreal. All the podiums seem like out of a dream!  Huge congrats to everybody!!!!!!!
What a crazy crazy day and year. “
